Shutdown Timer Classic is available in a portable version on the GitHub page, and as a UWP app on the Microsoft Store. I tested the program using multiple settings, including the Graceful option on the main screen of the application, when it wasn't enabled, unsaved test documents were indeed closed when the timer kicked in and killed all the other programs. I recommend setting one of the default settings, and that would be the Graceful mode (prevents the program from ending other processes). This doesn't happen with the Lock and Sleep modes. Shutdown Timer Classic will automatically close if you chose the lock option. You won't be able to close or cancel the timer without entering the password. You can double-click this at any time to start the countdown timer. Finally, click on ‘Finish‘ to create the shutdown timer shortcut on your Windows 10 desktop. Below are the steps required for creating a shutdown, restart, and hibernate shortcut. The application doesn't prompt you to set the password the moment you enable the option, instead you will be asked to select a password the next time you start a timer. Retain the default name for the shortcut (shortcut.exe) or input one, such as shutdown-5min.exe, to make it easier for you to identify the timer. Microsoft Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10 includes a command to shut down the computer through the command line, shortcut, or batch files. You can also choose to disable animations, and background notifications completely.ĭon't want other users to turn off the timer? You can add a password to lock the program. Dislike having the timer window always on top? Disable it from the Advanced tab. The gear icon in the top right corner takes you to Shutdown Timer Classic's Settings page.
